Mat Classes

Group mat classes are recommended for those who have no serious injuries, who like the social aspect of a class environment and who can commit to a scheduled time most weeks.

Group classes are organised by ability level from beginner to Intermediate, with a number of mixed ability classes. Mat classes use both the Pilates mat, as well as other small apparatus – balls, bands, rings, hand weights and foam rollers , to support and challenge you. The range of mat classes allows us to offer something for everyone.

To ensure high standards of instructor attention, classes are restricted in size to 12 persons.

We offer a flexible makeup system that allows you to swap your and change classes on the days that you cannot make your regular scheduled class or classes, subject to availability.

Pre-booking is essential.

Classes are run alongside Kent County Council’s School Term Dates with additional cases in the summer holidays. Visit www.kent.gov.uk for specific term dates.

Beginners/Improvers Classes

These are classes for those who have had little or no previous experience of Pilates. You will learn the fundamental Pilates principles and the teacher will ensure you perform each exercise with correct technique. Exercises are gentle, but challenging to meet your needs. This type of class is also ideal for someone who has had a long break from Pilates or someone who has perhaps started 1:1 sessions with an injury and is now ready for group mat classes.

Intermediate Classes

The classes are for those who have experience of Pilates and have attended regular Pilates classes before. As the repertoire of exercises increases, the Classical matwork sequences start to be taught in greater depth. Clients must have a solid understanding of pilates as the exercises are more varied and challenging.

Mixed Ability

These classes are suitable for all levels including beginners, we will cover beginner and intermediate levels within this class giving you the opportunity to work at your own level.

HIP Pilates

We’ll be offering HIP Pilates classes starting in the New Year. HIP stands for: High Intensity Power Pilates. Why would you do this?  Regular exercise that achieves the heart pumping at a faster rate is beneficial in keeping the heart strong and healthy, increasing the number of calories burnt, improves your gross motor skills, muscle balance, coordination, balance, bone, and brain health, so the question would be why would you not do this? It’s also great fun.

HIP Pilates offers more dynamic exercises than the everyday Pilates class, it is faster paced and coordinates bigger ranges of movement. This type of Pilates still requires the teacher and client to work with integrity and skill to prevent injury and to avoid undoing the strong technique that  has been developed.

Please get in touch if you’d like to give it a try, or have a look at the latest timetable.
